I love Christmas.
Yaroslav and I were talking about what we could do to bring a bit of festive magic for the students and we came up with this idea together. specially after such a difficult year.
I mentioned I have an elf costume already and he wanted to be a reindeer. He found the sleigh and I got the costumes and candy ready.
Once we decided what we were going to do we recruited Joe to be our Santa Claus and Emily offered her brilliant photography skills.
It was exhausting to be honest, but totally worth it!Lots of people took videos and photos and the kids were clambering out of their seats to see everything and get some candy, it was great fun!
Yaroslav and I were dancing improvised in the hallway. We just wanted everyone to feel our energy and enthusiasm- to help make the whole suprise more magical!
The students enjoyed the surprise (and the candy) and the staff too I think. It was like a reminder that Christmas was still happening.
Personally, my family aren't religious but Christmas was always our big holiday. It's a time for everyone to get together and enjoy eachothers company, to let go of the daily stresses and problems and just relax together. This year especially, it feels hard to be away from my family, so sharing some Christmas magic is like sharing a small piece of my home with everyone.
2020 is coming to an end. We made it through 2020, that feels like an achievement. It's a great time to be grateful for what you have and to appreciate whats around you.
